Haverhill, MA (September 6, 2026) – A 14-year-old boy riding a BMX bicycle was struck by a dark-colored pickup truck on Friday evening, September 4, at the intersection of White Street and William Street in Haverhill.
The boy was conscious and alert but had a possible right ankle fracture and was reportedly screaming in pain after the crash.
He was transported to Lawrence General Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The pickup truck driver remained at the scene and was not injured but was reportedly shaken up.
Investigators are continuing to determine what led to the crash.
We extend our best wishes to the injured boy as he recovers.
Insurance coverage can play an important role after a bicycle crash in Haverhill, MA. If the driver is found legally responsible, the driver's auto insurance may provide coverage for certain injury-related losses, including medical expenses and other damages permitted under Massachusetts law.
Because the injured cyclist is a minor, a parent or legal guardian may handle insurance communications and related documentation. Keeping copies of medical bills, treatment records, prescriptions, and other expenses can help organize the costs associated with the teenager's recovery.
The driver's insurance information may also become relevant when evaluating a potential claim. Vehicle details, photographs, witness information, and the crash report can help connect the available evidence with the circumstances being reviewed by the insurance company.
If the initial coverage is not enough to address the losses involved, other insurance questions may need to be considered. Depending on the circumstances, additional coverage could potentially apply, making it useful to review all available policies before determining what compensation may be available.
Meanwhile, families can keep records of expenses that extend beyond medical treatment. Transportation to appointments, bicycle damage, and other documented costs may become relevant when evaluating the financial consequences of the crash.
When insurance questions become complicated, a bicycle accident lawyer can review the available policies and documentation and explain how Massachusetts insurance rules may apply. An attorney may also communicate with insurers and help organize the information needed to evaluate a potential claim.
