Ambulance Collision Injures Two on Boland Way in Agawam, MA

September 5, 2026

Agawam, MA (September 5, 2026) – An ambulance was involved in a motor vehicle collision early Saturday morning, September 5, while responding to a mutual aid EMS request in Springfield. The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Boland Way and East Columbus Avenue.

The Agawam Rescue 1 ambulance was responding to the call and not carrying a patient when it was hit by another vehicle. Two firefighter paramedics suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Both were treated at Noble Hospital and later released.

A passenger in the second vehicle was ejected during the collision and transported by a Springfield ambulance to a local hospital. Her condition was not known at the time of the report.

The Springfield police detained the driver of the second vehicle, who was later taken into custody by Chicopee police for alleged offenses that occurred earlier in the evening within their jurisdiction.

We hope those affected by this crash have a steady and full recovery.

How Can Medical Records Support a Crash Claim in Agawam, MA?

Medical records can provide a clear record of what happens after a crash in Agawam, MA, especially when an injury requires hospital care or continued treatment. They may show the services provided, how the injury was treated, and the costs involved.

From the initial treatment onward, records can help document the care received. Emergency transportation, hospital visits, imaging, diagnostic testing, prescriptions, and follow-up appointments may establish the treatment provided and related expenses.

As treatment continues, medical notes may document symptoms, diagnoses, recommendations, and changes in a person's condition. If an injury causes work restrictions or difficulty with daily tasks, these records may also show its effects on employment and everyday activities.

A consistent treatment history can also help create a timeline of recovery. Appointment records and notes from later visits may provide information about how symptoms and treatment have progressed since the crash.

Financial losses may extend beyond medical expenses. If an injury causes missed work, reduced hours, or changed duties, pay stubs, employer statements, and other employment records may help document lost income.

With these records organized, a personal injury attorney can review the information and explain which legal options may apply. An attorney may also review insurance coverage and identify additional documentation that could be relevant to a potential claim.
