Why Intersection Crashes Are Common in Harwich, MA
Intersection crashes happen often in Harwich because many local roads are two-lane routes that meet without traffic lights. Drivers rely on stop signs and judgment when crossing or turning. One distraction or misjudged gap can quickly lead to a serious crash.
During the summer, traffic increases as visitors head to Cape Cod beaches and local businesses. Roads like Queen Anne Road, Route 28, and Route 124 carry both residents and tourists. Heavier traffic and unfamiliar drivers can raise the risk at intersections.
If you are involved in an intersection crash, move to a safe place and call for help right away. Even if you feel fine, see a doctor within 24 hours. Some injuries may not appear until later.
After getting medical care, take photos of the vehicles, road markings, traffic signs, and the intersection. Look for anything that may have blocked a driver’s view. These details can help explain how the crash happened.
Before you speak with the other driver’s insurance company, remember their goal is often to reduce what they pay. Adjusters may ask leading questions or push for a quick settlement. You do not have to give a recorded statement without an attorney.
In many intersection crashes, the driver who failed to yield or ignored a stop sign may carry most of the fault. If a medical issue played a role, investigators may examine whether the driver knew about the condition before getting behind the wheel.
