College Freshman Critically Injured in Head-On Crash in Plymouth, MA

September 19, 2026

Plymouth, MA (September 19, 2026) – A college freshman was seriously injured on Thursday, September 17, after an SUV and sedan collided head-on near Plympton Road and Carver Road in Plymouth.

The crash was reported shortly after 11:45 a.m. near the West Plymouth Square shopping plaza. Emergency crews found both vehicles involved in a head-on collision.

The sedan driver was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be freed using hydraulic extrication tools. He was taken by ambulance to a landing zone at Plymouth Municipal Airport before being flown to a Boston trauma center.

The SUV driver, a juvenile female, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision.

Our thoughts are with the injured student, and we hope they make a full recovery.

What Can Affect Compensation After a Car Crash in Plymouth, MA?

Compensation after a car crash in Plymouth, MA, may depend on the severity of the injuries, recovery time, financial losses, and circumstances surrounding the collision. A potential claim may include medical expenses, lost income, and other losses that develop during recovery.

The extent of medical care can affect the overall losses involved. Emergency treatment, hospitalization, rehabilitation, follow-up appointments, and future care may create expenses that continue long after the initial crash.

For a college student, a serious injury can affect more than medical care. It may interrupt classes, delay academic plans, or limit participation in work, internships, and other activities. These disruptions may be relevant when evaluating the broader losses associated with the injury.

Work-related losses may also need to be documented. Missed shifts, reduced hours, or longer-term limitations can affect current and future earnings. Employment records and medical documentation may help establish these effects.

Other expenses can arise during recovery as well. Transportation to medical appointments, rehabilitation-related costs, assistance with daily activities, vehicle repairs, and other out-of-pocket expenses may add to the financial impact.

Information about how the collision occurred may also affect a potential claim. Evidence from the vehicles, roadway, witnesses, and ongoing investigation may provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding the crash and the parties involved.

As the full effects of an injury become clearer, a car accident lawyer can review the available medical, financial, and crash-related information and explain what losses may be relevant to a potential claim.
