September 10, 2026

Burlington, MA (September 10, 2026) – A young female pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle near Farms Drive and Center Street in Burlington on Thursday, September 10. The wreck was reported around 10:00 p.m.

Burlington Fire and Burlington Police arrived shortly after the collision. Police closed the roadway at Birchcrest Street and Bedford Street while emergency crews worked nearby.

Burlington Fire transported the pedestrian to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington with a four-person crew. Initial reports described her injuries as life-threatening.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.

We hope the injured pedestrian receives the care she needs to recover.

What Injuries Are Common in Pedestrian Accidents in Burlington, MA?

Pedestrian accidents can cause head trauma, broken bones, internal injuries, and serious damage to muscles or other soft tissue. Because pedestrians have little physical protection from a moving vehicle, medical care may be extensive after a severe collision.

After emergency treatment, following the care plan provided by your medical team can help support your recovery. Keeping scheduled appointments also creates a clear record of the treatment you received after the collision.

When medical care leads to significant expenses, insurance coverage may become an important part of the claim. Depending on the circumstances, different policies may apply to hospital bills, follow-up care, lost income, and other financial losses.

If the driver’s insurer disputes responsibility, police reports, photographs, surveillance footage, and statements from people who saw what happened may help establish how the collision occurred. Preserving this information early can make it easier to address disagreements later.

Because Massachusetts follows a modified comparative negligence system, fault can also affect compensation. A person who is partly responsible may still recover damages in some circumstances, although the amount may be reduced based on their share of responsibility.

When the injured pedestrian is a minor, additional considerations may affect how a claim is handled. A parent or guardian may need to take certain steps on the child’s behalf while the legal process moves forward.

During the claims process, a pedestrian accident lawyer in Massachusetts can review the circumstances of the collision, available insurance coverage, and any disputes that arise. An attorney can also explain which options may be available based on the facts of the case.
