Steps to Take After a Highway Crash Near Salisbury, MA

Drivers who are involved in a highway crash typically benefit from documenting the scene as thoroughly as possible before conditions change or vehicles are moved. Massachusetts requires drivers to file an accident report with the Registry of Motor Vehicles when injuries occur or damage exceeds a set threshold, and that paperwork can later matter for any injury claim.

Highway collisions, even at moderate speeds, can result in whiplash, concussions, and back injuries that aren't always obvious right away. Some people don't notice pain or stiffness until a day or two after the crash, which is part of why prompt medical evaluation is commonly recommended.

Massachusetts follows a no-fault insurance system for initial medical bills, but a car accident lawyer can help determine when a claim against another driver becomes available, particularly if injuries are serious. Massachusetts also follows a modified comparative negligence rule, in which a person can recover damages as long as they're not more than 51% at fault, so how blame gets divided can affect the outcome.
