E-Bike Rider Airlifted After Crash on Amesbury Rd in Haverhill, MA

June 16, 2026

Haverhill, MA (June 16, 2026) – An e-bike rider in his mid-50s was found unconscious and unresponsive on Tuesday morning, June 16, following a crash on Amesbury Rd in Haverhill.

A medical helicopter was requested and landed at Lawrence General Hospital, where the rider was initially transported by ambulance with a firefighter driving. The patient was then airlifted to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington for further treatment. A second person at the scene declined medical transport.

No names or further details about those involved were confirmed in the initial report on the accident. The investigation remains ongoing.

We hope the rider makes the fullest possible recovery.

What Compensation Can an E-Bike Rider Seek in Haverhill, MA?

In Massachusetts, e-bike riders are generally not entitled to the same personal injury protection benefits available to passenger vehicle occupants, which means pursuing a claim directly against the at-fault party's liability insurance typically becomes the primary avenue for recovery.

When injuries are serious enough to require, for example, emergency airlift transport and intensive care at a regional medical center, the financial stakes of that claim can be considerable, making early legal guidance especially valuable for those navigating the process on behalf of a critically hurt rider.

The types of compensation that may be available following a severe e-bike crash extend well beyond the costs of emergency transport and initial hospitalization. Future medical care, long-term rehabilitation, lost income during what may be an extended recovery, and the broader impact of serious injuries on a person's ability to work and carry out daily activities are all categories of damages that may be considered depending on the specific circumstances involved.

Beyond the at-fault party's liability coverage, additional sources of compensation may also be worth reviewing. Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, carried on a household member's auto policy even when the injured person does not own a vehicle, may provide further protection if the responsible party's coverage is insufficient to address the full extent of the rider's losses.

A Massachusetts personal injury attorney may be able to help the rider or their family identify all applicable sources of compensation, preserve critical evidence while the investigation is still active, and ensure that any resolution reached genuinely reflects the full and lasting scope of the injuries and losses involved.
