Fatal Tractor-Trailer Wreck on Turnpike St in Easton, MA

September 24, 2026

Easton, MA (September 24, 2026) – A van driver was killed, and another person was injured in a fiery collision involving a tractor-trailer near 676 Turnpike Street in Easton on Wednesday, September 23. The crash occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m.

Easton Police and emergency medical crews responded after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a vehicle on fire. Officers arrived and found a tractor-trailer with front-end damage and a work-style van fully engulfed in flames.

The van’s only occupant was pronounced dead. The tractor-trailer driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Easton Police Department and Massachusetts State Police are investigating the crash with assistance from the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the driver who lost their life, and we hope the injured driver makes a full recovery.

Who Can File a Wrongful Death Claim in Easton, MA?

In Easton and throughout Massachusetts, a wrongful death claim is generally filed by the executor or administrator of the deceased person’s estate. Money recovered through the claim is distributed to eligible family members under state law.

If the person left a will, the person named to manage the estate may be appointed to handle the claim. When there is no will, or that person cannot serve, the Probate and Family Court can appoint someone to manage the estate.

Depending on the circumstances, wrongful death damages may include lost income, services, care, companionship, guidance, and other support the person would have provided. Reasonable funeral and burial expenses may also be included.

In some cases, a separate estate claim may seek compensation for conscious pain and suffering before death. Those damages belong to the estate and are handled separately from the losses available through a wrongful death claim.

Because Massachusetts generally gives families three years to file a wrongful death lawsuit, it is important to know which deadline applies. Certain circumstances can affect when that period begins.

Once an estate representative has been appointed, that person can take steps to preserve records, communicate with insurers, and handle matters connected to the claim. Starting the process promptly may also make it easier to secure documents that could become harder to obtain later.

As the claim moves forward, a wrongful death lawyer in Massachusetts can help the estate representative identify eligible family members, prepare required filings, and address disputes involving fault or damages. An attorney can also coordinate related estate matters connected to the loss.
