Haverhill, MA — Multi-Vehicle Collision on 719 Main St

March 22, 2026
Haverhill, MA (March 22, 2026) — Emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Sunday, March 22, in the northern section of Haverhill. The crash occurred at approximately 1:12 p.m. in the vicinity of 719 Main Street (Route 125), a heavily traveled corridor in Essex County.

Haverhill Fire and Police departments arrived at the scene to find a collision involving at least two vehicles with reported injuries. Due to the number of patients requiring medical evaluation, a second ambulance was requested shortly after the initial dispatch.

The identities of those involved and the specific nature of their injuries have not yet been released as the Haverhill Police Department continues its investigation into the cause of the crash.

Our thoughts are with those affected by this accident, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.

What to Do After a Vehicle Accident in Massachusetts

If you are in a car accident in Massachusetts, you should first call 911 for help, see a doctor right away, and tell your insurance company. Because Massachusetts uses a "no-fault" system, your own insurance will usually pay for your first medical bills and some lost pay through Personal Injury Protection (PIP), no matter who caused the crash.

Every auto insurance policy in Massachusetts includes PIP. This benefit pays up to $8,000 for your medical bills and 75% of the money you lose if you cannot work. To get this money, you file a claim with your own insurance company first. It is very important to see a doctor quickly, even if you feel okay at the scene, so they can record your injuries. This medical record is proof that your insurance needs to pay your bills without delay.

While your own insurance pays the initial bills, you might need more help if your injuries are serious. In Massachusetts, you generally cannot sue the other driver for "pain and suffering" unless your medical bills are more than $2,000. However, you can also sue if the injury is very severe, such as a broken bone, a permanent scar, or a loss of hearing or sight. An attorney can help you organize your medical records and bills to show that you have passed this "tort threshold," allowing you to seek a much larger settlement from the person who hit you.

If anyone was hurt or if there was more than $1,000 in damage, you must file a Motor Vehicle Crash Operator Report within five days. You have to send copies to the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV), the local police (like the Haverhill Police), and your insurance company. An attorney can help you fill out this form so you don't accidentally say something that makes the crash seem like your fault.

After a crash, insurance adjusters might call you very quickly to ask for a "recorded statement" or offer you a small check to close the case. Speaking with a car accident lawyer can be very helpful, as they can explain your rights, guide you through the claims process, and outline your available options. An attorney acts as your shield, handling all the phone calls and paperwork so you don't get pressured into a bad deal.
