MBTA Bus Involved in Chain-Reaction Crash on Fellsway in Medford, MA

Medford, MA (September 11, 2026) – A chain-reaction collision that involved an MBTA bus left three people hospitalized on Thursday morning, September 20, on Fellsway in Medford.

The bus was out of service and traveling toward an intersection around 11 a.m. when its 62-year-old driver was unable to stop. The bus rear-ended a car stopped ahead and pushed that vehicle into another car.

The bus continued forward and struck a parked vehicle before leaving the road and reaching the front lawn of a nearby home. Witnesses said the bus went through a red light and hit several vehicles, a light pole, and bushes before stopping near the home.

Seven people received treatment after the accident. The bus driver and two other people were taken to a hospital, and their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. The other people hurt were inside vehicles, while the bus driver was the only person aboard the bus.

The MBTA Transit Police continue to investigate the accident.
