June 6, 2026

Raynham, MA (June 6, 2026) – A 52-year-old New Bedford man was killed on Friday night, June 5, after his motorcycle collided with an SUV at the intersection of South St E and Hill St in Raynham.

A 2010 Ford Explorer operated by a 22-year-old Avon man collided with a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle being driven straight on South St E. A medical helicopter was requested for the motorcyclist following the wreck. Upon the helicopter's arrival, it was determined the rider would be transported by ground with flight medics to Morton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office and the MSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section responded to assist with the investigation. No names were released following the accident.

The investigation remains ongoing.

We extend our deepest condolences to the rider's family and all those who loved him.

What Can a Family Do After a Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Raynham, MA?

When a motorcyclist is killed in a collision with another vehicle in Raynham, surviving family members can pursue a civil wrongful death claim under Massachusetts law, and that process can move forward independently of any ongoing criminal or traffic investigation.

Certain surviving family members, including a spouse, children, and parents, may be eligible to bring a wrongful death claim when a loved one is killed due to another party's negligence. Consulting a wrongful death attorney as early as possible after a fatal crash helps ensure that no critical deadlines are missed and that available evidence is preserved while it is still accessible.

The financial impact of losing a family member in a fatal crash can be both immediate and far-reaching. Funeral and burial costs, medical expenses incurred before death, and the lasting loss of a loved one's income, support, and companionship are among the losses that may be considered in a wrongful death claim under Massachusetts law. These costs can accumulate quickly, and understanding the full scope of what may be recoverable, including future losses that are harder to quantify, is one of the most important reasons to seek legal guidance early rather than waiting until the investigation concludes.

When a collision reconstruction investigation is conducted alongside a standard police inquiry, as occurred in this crash, the findings of that investigation can play a meaningful role in a civil claim. Reconstruction analysis can help establish how the crash occurred, what each driver's actions were in the moments before impact, and which party may bear responsibility. An attorney can help families understand how those findings may factor into their legal options as the investigation progresses and results become available.
