Springfield, MA (September 29, 2026) – Two vehicles collided on Tuesday, September 29, at North Branch Parkway and Beacon Terrace in Springfield.
Springfield Fire and emergency crews said the accident happened at around 9:15 a.m. Emergency units had to free two people who were trapped in the vehicles.
One person was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The cause of the collision remains unknown and under active investigation.
We hope the injured person recovers quickly.
After a collision between two vehicles, insurers usually start by asking who was at fault and by how much. Massachusetts uses modified comparative negligence. This means that an injured person's recovery is reduced by their share of fault, and it is barred if that share is greater than 50 percent. Insurers sometimes assign a percentage early, even before treatment is complete and facts are known.
Those percentages can move as more information comes out. Skid marks, vehicle damage, camera footage, and witness accounts may support a different account than the first statement an insurer took. A car accident lawyer can review that material and question a percentage that does not fit the evidence.
Recorded statements also deserve some caution. Casual remarks such as an apology or a guess about speed can later be read as admissions, and a comment made before an injury is fully understood may not match later medical findings. Medical records that tie symptoms to the accident can also help keep questions about fault and questions about injury separate.
