Acushnet, MA (September 25, 2026) – A motorcycle and an SUV were involved in a serious collision that closed South Main Street between Slocum and Cleveland streets. The wreck happened around 10 p.m. Thursday, September 24, according to the Acushnet Fire & EMS Department.
The motorcycle came to rest on its side near the SUV, which showed heavy front-end damage. Police taped off the road and placed evidence markers near a helmet and other items in the roadway. Information about the extent of the injuries has not been released yet.
Police continue to investigate the accident.
We hope everyone involved recovers fully.
Riders and their families can help preserve evidence by photographing the motorcycle, gear, and roadway conditions as soon as possible. Additionally, it is advisable to request the police report once it's available and hold off on repairs or disposal of damaged equipment until it's been documented. Acting quickly matters, since physical evidence like this usually changes or disappears within days.
Massachusetts generally gives someone three years from the date of an injury to file a personal injury lawsuit. That timeline can feel generous, but the evidence needed to support a claim doesn't last nearly as long. Skid marks fade, damaged vehicles get repaired or scrapped, and witnesses become harder to reach the longer a case sits untouched.
In a motorcycle case, details like helmet condition, road debris, and each vehicle's final resting position can show how things happened, but only if they're captured before the road reopens and vehicles are moved. A motorcycle accident lawyer can help track down surveillance footage, request the official report, and document these details before they're lost.
