Small Plane Crash Kills Two Off Center St in Ludlow, MA

September 8, 2026

Ludlow, MA (September 8, 2026) – Two people were killed in a small plane accident in Ludlow on Saturday night, September 5. Search crews responded to the area after receiving a report of a missing aircraft, and the plane was later found in a wooded section off Center Street.

According to the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office, the two people who died were found at the scene and have not been publicly identified. They were reportedly connected to a flight school based in Plymouth.

The investigation into what caused the collision remains active, with multiple state and federal agencies assisting local officials.

Our condolences go out to the families of those who lost their lives.

Who Can File a Wrongful Death Claim After a Small Aircraft Case in Ludlow, MA?

In Massachusetts, a wrongful death claim must be filed by the personal representative of the deceased person's estate, though any damages recovered are held for the benefit of surviving spouses, children, or other next-of-kin who depended on the decedent for financial or emotional support.

Families left behind after a fatal accident face not only the sudden loss of a spouse's or parent's income, but also funeral and burial costs that can arrive before anyone has time to process what happened. Massachusetts law also recognizes the loss of a decedent's companionship, guidance, and counsel as a compensable loss, separate from any financial support that's gone.

Aviation cases usually involve more than one potentially responsible party, since a pilot's actions, an aircraft owner's maintenance history, or a mechanical defect from the manufacturer could each factor into what happened.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration typically investigate this to determine a probable cause, but their findings don't automatically establish civil liability, and a family can pursue a separate legal claim regardless of what a federal report ultimately concludes.

Wreckage and maintenance records can be moved, repaired, or lost once an investigation wraps up, and a wrongful death lawyer can work to preserve physical evidence and request documentation early, before it becomes harder to obtain.
