Boston, MA (October 1, 2026) – Three people were injured after a car struck a pedestrian and crashed into a building on the Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital campus in Boston on Thursday, October 1. The crash happened near Centre Street at about 10:45 a.m.
Boston police said the pedestrian had life-threatening injuries. Two people inside the vehicle were also hurt, and all three were taken to Faulkner Hospital for treatment.
The car struck Belkin House, a separate building on the hospital campus, and damaged a gas line. The building was evacuated as a precaution, while the main hospital remained open. National Grid later shut off gas service.
The Boston Police Department is investigating the crash with its homicide detectives and fatal collision team.
Our thoughts are with everyone injured, and we hope they recover fully.
A pedestrian accident claim in Massachusetts usually begins with insurance benefits for medical expenses and may later include a claim against the driver. Depending on the circumstances, the case may end through a settlement or lawsuit.
When a claim moves forward, police reports, crosswalk signals, camera footage, and witness accounts can help show how the crash happened. These materials may also clarify the driver’s actions and the pedestrian’s movements.
If a vehicle strikes you while walking, PIP coverage from that vehicle’s policy generally pays eligible medical expenses and part of lost wages regardless of fault. Other coverage may apply if that vehicle does not have PIP.
Once PIP benefits are used, an injured pedestrian may pursue additional compensation when the legal requirements are met. Recoverable losses may include medical costs, lost income, and pain and suffering.
Even if the driver is uninsured, uninsured motorist coverage may provide another source of payment. Coverage under your own or a household auto policy can sometimes apply even though you were walking.
In Massachusetts, you have three years from the crash date to file a personal injury lawsuit. Missing that deadline can prevent the claim from being pursued in court.
As your claim moves forward, a pedestrian accident lawyer in Massachusetts can communicate with insurers, address disputes over coverage or fault, and help determine whether a settlement reflects the full extent of your losses.
