Mansfield, MA (September 27, 2026) – Three people were injured on Sunday, September 27, after a three-vehicle crash on northbound I-495 near mile marker 27.6 in Mansfield.
Two vehicles came to rest in the median, while a third vehicle ended up in the woods on the breakdown-lane side of the highway.
Two of the patients were trapped inside their vehicles and required extrication. Emergency crews used the Jaws of Life to safely remove them.
Two patients were taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment, while the third was transported to BMC-South for further evaluation.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
We hope everyone involved in the wreck recovers fully and quickly.
A person injured in a multi-vehicle crash may be able to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost income, vehicle damage, and other losses when another party may be legally responsible.
Medical expenses can continue after the initial hospital visit. Emergency treatment, diagnostic testing, prescriptions, follow-up appointments, physical therapy, and other care may create costs that should be documented. Medical records and bills can help establish the treatment received and expenses connected to the injuries.
An injury may also interfere with a person's ability to work. Missed shifts, reduced hours, or an extended absence can result in lost income. Pay stubs, employer records, tax documents, and work schedules may help document these financial effects.
Vehicle damage can create another source of financial loss. Photographs, repair estimates, towing records, rental vehicle expenses, and other receipts may help establish the cost associated with damage from the crash.
When multiple vehicles were involved, information about the actions of the different drivers may be relevant when reviewing potential claims. Photographs of the vehicles and roadway, witness accounts, available video, and other records may help provide information about how the crash occurred.
Insurance coverage may also need to be reviewed when multiple vehicles are involved. Policy documents, claim correspondence, medical records, repair estimates, and other financial documentation can help clarify the coverage and losses involved.
