Why Preserving Evidence Matters After a Crash in Westminster, MA

Evidence from a crash scene can disappear quickly, which is why preserving it matters just as much as getting medical care. At a busy junction, skid marks fade, debris gets cleared, and any nearby surveillance footage from businesses may be automatically overwritten within days.

The physical damage of the vehicle can also tell an important story about how the crash unfolded. Once a vehicle is towed and repaired, or a tow yard releases it, details like crumple patterns or headlight damage become much harder to document.

Photos, witness contact information, and vehicle data recorder information all become harder to gather the longer someone waits, and insurance companies sometimes move quickly to inspect or release a damaged vehicle before an independent review can happen.

A Massachusetts car accident lawyer can send preservation requests to insurers and tow companies early, which helps keep this information available if a claim moves forward. Massachusetts generally allows three years from the date of a crash to file a claim, but waiting to gather evidence isn't the same as waiting to file.

At Fiorentino Legal, P.C., we have experience helping victims across Massachusetts determine which evidence might matter most after their crash and how it can help build a strong case for a possible claim. We can review the details of your case and explain what steps tend to protect your options early on.
