Two Hospitalized After Crash With Entrapment near Salem and Union St in Lawrence, MA

June 24, 2026

Lawrence, MA (June 24, 2026) – Two people were transported to Lawrence General Hospital on Monday night, June 23, after a crash with entrapment near Salem Street and South Union Street in Lawrence.

Lawrence Fire requested additional apparatus equipped with hydraulic extrication tools to free a trapped patient. Once extricated, the patient was evaluated by EMS, which then transported two people to the hospital for treatment.

No further details about the severity of injuries or the identities of those involved were confirmed in the initial report on the accident. The investigation remains ongoing.

We hope both those who are hurt receive the care they need and make full recoveries.

What Compensation May Be Available After a Crash Requiring Extrication in Lawrence, MA?

After a crash serious enough to require extrication equipment in Lawrence, the compensation available under Massachusetts law can be significant, and understanding what options exist early can make a meaningful difference in the recovery process.

The need to use hydraulic extrication tools to free a trapped occupant typically indicates substantial impact forces, often resulting in injuries such as fractures, internal trauma, or spinal damage that may require extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation.

Massachusetts allows those hurt in crashes of this severity to pursue compensation through both no-fault personal injury protection benefits and, when injuries meet the state's defined threshold for serious harm, a direct liability claim against the at-fault driver.

The categories of compensation that may be available following a crash requiring extrication extend well beyond the costs of emergency treatment and initial hospitalization. Surgical procedures, extended rehabilitation, ongoing therapy, and the use of mobility aids during recovery are among the direct medical expenses that can accumulate rapidly in the weeks and months following a crash of this severity.

Beyond these immediate costs, lost income during what may be a lengthy recovery and the broader impact of serious injuries on a person's daily life are among the additional categories of damages that may need to be considered depending on each person's specific circumstances.

Because injuries severe enough to require extrication can take considerable time to fully understand, those hurt should be cautious about accepting any early settlement offer before the complete scope of their medical needs has been established.

A personal injury attorney may be able to help those hurt identify all applicable insurance coverage, navigate Massachusetts' no-fault and liability rules, and ensure that any resolution reached reflects the full and lasting scope of their losses.
