Harwich, MA (September 4, 2026) – Two people were taken to Cape Cod Hospital on Friday, September 4, following a crash at the intersection of Route 124 and Queen Anne Road in Harwich.
The Harwich Fire was on scene at the intersection after the wreck was reported. Both people involved were brought to the hospital, though the full scope of their injuries hasn't been disclosed.
Officials continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
We hope both people are on their way to a full recovery.
In Massachusetts, medical bills after a crash are usually paid first through Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage, which is a mandatory part of every auto insurance policy and pays up to $8,000 in medical expenses regardless of who caused the crash. This no-fault structure means an injured driver doesn't have to wait for a liability determination before treatment gets covered.
Once PIP benefits are exhausted, the picture gets more complicated. Health insurance usually steps in to cover additional treatment, but many health plans include a right of reimbursement, which means they can later seek repayment from any settlement or verdict the injured person eventually receives.
Sorting out which coverage applies, and in what order, is typically where people run into trouble, especially when bills start arriving from multiple providers before anyone has explained how the payments will ultimately be resolved.
A car accident lawyer can help identify every applicable coverage source, negotiate down health insurance liens before a settlement is finalized, and make sure medical payments already made don't quietly reduce the compensation an injured person is entitled to.
