Two Hurt, One Airlifted After Head-On Crash on Sadwich Rd in Bourne, MA

June 17, 2026

Bourne, MA (June 17, 2026) – Two drivers were hurt early Wednesday morning, June 17, in a head-on crash on Sadwich Road in the westbound travel lane in Bourne, with one person requiring airlift transport.

A 35-year-old man from North Carolina driving a red 2004 Jeep collided head-on with a 43-year-old Pocasset man driving a white 2023 Toyota pickup truck. Boston MedFlight transported the pickup driver to an area hospital, while the Jeep driver was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

Given the severity of the injuries, the Cape Cod Law Enforcement Council's Crash Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the investigation.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

We hope both drivers who were hurt receive the best possible care and make a recovery.

What Should You Do After a Head-On Crash in Bourne, MA?

After a head-on crash in Bourne, the most important first step is to make sure all medical care recommended after the initial emergency treatment is followed consistently.

Head-on collisions generate some of the highest impact forces occupants can experience, and injuries such as traumatic brain injuries, spinal damage, and internal trauma may require extended hospitalization, surgery, and months of rehabilitation. In many cases, some symptoms may not fully appear until days after the crash, making follow-up appointments and ongoing evaluations especially important.

For that reason, maintaining a clear and uninterrupted medical record is essential. Documentation that tracks the onset of symptoms, diagnoses, treatment plans, and recovery progress can help healthcare providers evaluate long-term needs while also creating an accurate record of the injuries sustained in the collision. Keeping copies of medical bills, prescriptions, therapy records, and other related expenses can also be beneficial for future claims.

Beyond medical care, preserving evidence from the crash can be equally important. Photographs, witness information, police reports, and records of missed work may help create a more complete picture of how the collision has affected a person's life and finances.

Massachusetts allows injured individuals to seek compensation through no-fault personal injury protection benefits and, when injuries meet the state's legal threshold, through a liability claim against the at-fault driver. Depending on the circumstances, recoverable damages may include medical expenses, future treatment costs, lost income, reduced earning capacity, and the broader impact of the injuries on daily activities and quality of life.

Reviewing available insurance coverage, gathering supporting evidence, and evaluating both current and future losses can help ensure that all potential sources of compensation are considered. Legal guidance may also help protect a claim during communications with insurance companies and ensure that any resolution reflects the full extent of the losses resulting from the crash.
