Two Injured in Five-Alarm House Fire on Atlantic Ave in Salisbury, MA

August 15, 2026

Salisbury, MA (August 15, 2026) – Two people were hospitalized with burn injuries on Friday evening, August 14, after a catastrophic five-alarm fire destroyed four buildings along Atlantic Avenue. The Salisbury Fire Department crews were dispatched to the scene just before 7:00 p.m.

Firefighters reported that heavy smoke and intense flames were visible from over a mile away, prompting an immediate third-alarm response upon first arrival. Upon reaching the scene, firefighters located two individuals from the primary home who had suffered burn injuries.

Emergency medical services treated both burn victims at the location before transporting them to a regional hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire rapidly spread to engulf a total of four structures and caused damage to several adjacent properties, escalating the emergency response to five alarms as multi-town fire crews assisted.

Local authorities are continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims as they recover.

Can Burn Victims and Property Owners Recover Losses After a Major Building Fire in Salisbury, MA?

Yes, individuals injured in a building fire and property owners who suffer losses in Massachusetts can seek financial recovery through residential insurance policies, property liability claims, or third-party negligence lawsuits.

Under Massachusetts law, victims who suffer physical burn injuries or severe property damage can pursue civil recovery if a property owner's negligence, building code violations, or defective equipment caused or contributed to the fire's spread.

Securing legal counsel is essential after a major multi-structure fire leaves residents facing severe bodily trauma, medical treatment expenses, and total loss of property.

Densely populated coastal neighborhoods in Essex County feature closely spaced residential homes where rapid flame progression and intense heat radiant exposure can cause severe thermal burns, smoke inhalation, and respiratory damage requiring specialized burn unit care and skin graft procedures.

Filing a formal personal injury or property damage claim allows fire victims to pursue compensation for emergency medical care, burn treatment, temporary housing costs, lost personal belongings, and physical pain and suffering.

Burn injury attorneys assist victims by coordinating with local fire investigators and state arson units, examining electrical and structural maintenance records, auditing all homeowner and commercial insurance policies, and handling direct communications with insurance adjusters.

Working with a burn injury lawyer helps protect your rights and ensures all potential avenues for financial recovery are fully explored.
