Haverhill, MA (October 2, 2026) – Emergency units and Haverhill Fire were called to a report of a vehicle on its side near 426 Lowell Avenue at about 4:50 p.m.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they requested an additional ambulance to assist those involved.
One of the vehicles was left on its side, and the other vehicle was leaking fluid. Two people were taken to Merrimack Valley Health in Lawrence. The severity of the injuries sustained has not been specified.
It is not clear what led the vehicles to collide. Officials continue to investigate.
We wish a full and strong recovery to both people injured.
Many newer vehicles carry an event data recorder that logs speed, braking, steering, and seatbelt use for a few seconds around a sudden jolt. Federal rules set standards for what those recorders capture when a manufacturer installs one. Not every vehicle has one, and the data covers only a short window.
What many people don’t take into account is that this information can disappear quickly. Vehicles that roll over are usually towed to a storage lot, and insurers may declare them a total loss and send them to salvage within weeks. Once a vehicle is crushed, sold, or repaired, the recorder and the physical evidence of roof damage, tires, and seat belts may be gone.
After an injury crash, those involved have three years to file a lawsuit under Massachusetts law. Vehicles rarely stay available that long, especially on busy corridors, where several drivers and insurers may each want to inspect the same vehicle.
A car accident lawyer can send written preservation requests to insurers and storage lots, arrange an independent inspection with an engineer, and sort out which claims carry which deadlines.
