What Compensation May Be Available After a Fire Injury in Lawrence, MA?
In Massachusetts, a person injured due to unsafe building conditions, faulty equipment, or another party's negligence can be eligible to pursue a personal injury claim. This may include the building owner, a property manager, or a third party responsible for maintenance or repairs.
Injuries from fire and emergency evacuations can be severe and varied. Burns, smoke inhalation, broken bones from falls, and respiratory damage are among the most common outcomes. Even an injury that appears minor at first can require surgery, extended physical therapy, and time away from work. The full cost of recovery is not always apparent in the hours immediately following a fire.
Lawrence sits in Essex County along the Merrimack River, and older multi-unit residential buildings are common throughout the city's core neighborhoods. When a fire breaks out in a densely populated structure, the potential for serious harm to residents is significant.
After being injured in a residential fire, a Massachusetts personal injury attorney can help determine whether negligence played a role in how the fire started or spread, and what documentation may be needed to support a claim. Legal guidance can also clarify whether a building owner's insurance or another party's liability coverage may apply to your situation.
