Worker Injured in Boom Lift Incident on Rte 30 Bridge in Weston, MA

August 22, 2026

Weston, MA (August 22, 2026) – On Friday morning, August 21, emergency crews responded to an industrial accident involving a commercial boom lift. The incident occurred near the Route 30 (Commonwealth Avenue) ramp by Interstate 95 at approximately 7:55 a.m.

Preliminary information indicates a middle-aged male construction worker operating a boom lift apparently struck the underside of the Route 30 bridge structure. When emergency responders arrived on scene, they found the worker conscious but suffering from severe back and leg pain from the impact forces.

Paramedics and Advanced Life Support (ALS) teams immediately treated the injured worker on the scene to stabilize him. Because of the seriousness of the worker’s injuries reported, emergency crews first worked to set up a potential helicopter landing zone near Route 30 as they worked to get the patient ready for transport to a regional hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.

Our thoughts remain with the injured worker as he recovers.

What Rights Do Injured Workers Have After an Industrial Accident in Weston, MA?

After suffering injuries in a commercial or workplace accident in Massachusetts, an injured worker has clear legal rights under state law to receive financial coverage for medical treatment, physical rehabilitation, and lost earnings. Navigating the recovery process after a serious industrial incident involves understanding both workers' compensation benefits and potential third-party legal claims.

Under the Massachusetts Workers' Compensation Act, employees injured on the job are entitled to no-fault workers' compensation benefits, which cover all reasonable and necessary medical care, prescription costs, and wage replacement benefits for total or partial disability. Workers have the right to select their own treating physician after an initial evaluation and cannot be retaliated against by an employer for filing a legitimate injury claim.

In addition to workers' compensation, an injured worker may have the legal right to file a personal injury lawsuit against negligent third parties who are not their employer.

If an industrial accident involves defective machinery, faulty boom lift equipment, subcontractor negligence, or unsafe premises conditions managed by outside entities, the worker can pursue a third-party liability claim to recover full compensation for pain and suffering, emotional distress, and uncapped lost future earning capacity.

An experienced construction accident lawyer in Massachusetts can assist injured workers by investigating accident scenes, identifying third-party liability, and fighting for maximum financial recovery under Massachusetts law.
