How Long Do I Have to File a Car Accident Claim in Massachusetts?

In Massachusetts, you generally have three years from the date of a car accident to file a personal injury claim. This time limit, known as the statute of limitations, applies to most accident-related injury cases. Acting within this timeframe is important because missing the deadline may prevent a claim from moving forward.

Car accident claims often require time to gather evidence and understand the full impact of injuries. This may include reviewing medical records, repair estimates, and official reports. Starting the process early can help ensure that important information is preserved and available when needed.

Injuries from crashes can vary, and some may take time to fully develop. Medical visits, follow-up care, and treatment plans often play a role in documenting recovery. Keeping detailed records of these steps can help show how the accident affected daily life and health.
