Everett, MA – Man and Dog Seriously Injured in Dog Attack on Ferry St
April 10, 2026
Everett, MA (April 10, 2026) –
A man suffered serious injuries, and his dog was badly hurt after a violent dog attack on Tuesday afternoon, March 7, on Ferry Street in Everett. The incident involved two dogs and resulted in significant harm to both the owner and his pet.
Emergency details indicate the attack occurred while the man walked his 8-year-old Shih Tzu along the street. Authorities said another dog ran toward them and knocked the man to the ground during the encounter.
The man sustained a broken collarbone as a result of the incident. The attacking dog then bit the smaller dog, causing severe injuries that required extensive veterinary care.
The dog’s owner left the scene after the attack, and surveillance footage later showed a woman walking away from the area with a dog. Police later identified and arrested a 49-year-old woman on outstanding warrants.
The Everett Animal Control
officers took custody of the dog involved and placed it in quarantine. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
Our thoughts are with those affected, and we wish both the man and his dog a full recovery.
Compensation Available After a Dog Attack in Massachusetts
In Massachusetts, a person injured in a dog attack may be able to seek compensation for medical costs and related losses. State law often holds dog owners responsible for injuries caused by their pets, even if the dog has not shown prior aggression. Understanding these rules can help people know what options may be available after an incident.
Dog attacks can lead to a range of injuries, from fractures and cuts to long-term physical effects. In some cases, victims may need ongoing treatment or time away from work to recover. Veterinary costs can also become significant when a pet is injured during an attack. Keeping records of all medical and related expenses can help document the full impact.
Massachusetts follows a strict liability approach for many dog bite cases. This means the owner may be held responsible for damages caused by their dog, regardless of prior behavior. Evidence such as medical records, photos, and witness statements can help explain what happened and support a claim.
