Firefighter Hurt, Several Pets Killed in Three-Alarm House Fire on Harrison St in Quincy, MA

June 3, 2026

Quincy, MA (June 3, 2026) – A firefighter was taken to a hospital, and at least three animals died after a three-alarm fire tore through a two-story multifamily home on Harrison Street in Quincy. The fire broke out at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3.

The blaze grew rapidly and required a significant emergency response. When crews attempted to reach the second-floor apartment, the door was blocked from the other side. Seven people were displaced following the fire, though all residents were able to escape the building.

The extent of the firefighter's injuries was not confirmed in the initial report.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

We hope the injured firefighter makes a full and swift recovery, and we extend our sympathies to all those displaced by this devastating loss.

What Should Fire Victims Know About Their Legal Options in Quincy, MA?

When a residential fire displaces families and results in injuries in Quincy, those affected may have legal options worth exploring depending on what the investigation ultimately reveals about the cause.

Norfolk County and the greater Quincy area are served by a dense mix of multifamily housing, and residents of these buildings depend on landlords and property managers to maintain safe living conditions. If a fire is found to have resulted from a landlord's failure to maintain the property, faulty wiring, defective appliances, or other preventable conditions, those displaced or hurt may have grounds to pursue a civil claim.

People affected by a residential fire can face a wide range of losses beyond the immediate emergency. Displacement costs, lost personal property, medical expenses for smoke inhalation or burns, and the psychological impact of losing a home are among the hardships that fire victims commonly experience. These losses can accumulate quickly and extend well beyond what a standard renter's insurance policy may cover, particularly when injuries require ongoing medical attention or when the fire results in long-term displacement.

An attorney may be able to help fire victims understand what legal options could be available once the cause of the fire is determined. This includes reviewing whether a property owner, manager, or another party may bear responsibility for conditions that contributed to the fire, and clarifying what compensation may be available for medical expenses, property losses, displacement costs, and other related harm. Legal guidance can help those affected understand their options before making any decisions about insurance settlements or housing arrangements.
