Lynnfield, MA — State Trooper Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Rt 1

Lynnfield, MA (May 6, 2026) — A tragic collision on Route 1 has claimed the life of a Massachusetts State Police Trooper. The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, in the northbound lanes of the highway near the Lynnfield line.

State Police officials report that 30-year-old Trooper Kevin Trainor was finishing his shift and responding to reports of a wrong-way driver when the crash occurred. A Jeep traveling southbound on the northbound side of Route 1 struck Trooper Trainor’s cruiser head-on.
