What Injuries Are Common in a Rollover Crash in Haverhill, MA?

Rollover crashes tend to produce more severe injuries than standard collisions because the vehicle's cabin can be crushed or deformed as it flips, changing the amount of space occupants have to brace for impact.

Head trauma is common, and it can range from concussions to more serious brain injuries, particularly if a window breaks or the roof collapses inward during the rollover. Spinal injuries are also frequent, since the body can be jolted in multiple directions as the vehicle rotates.

Fractures to the arms, shoulders, and ribs usually occur as occupants brace against the door, dashboard, or steering wheel, and in some cases, a person can suffer partial ejection if not properly restrained, which significantly raises the risk of severe injury.

Some injuries from a rollover aren't immediately obvious. Internal bleeding, in particular, can take hours to produce clear symptoms. Whiplash and soft tissue injuries can also surface a day or two later, even when someone feels only mildly sore immediately after the crash.

Massachusetts follows a modified comparative negligence rule, so a person hurt in a rollover can still recover damages as long as they're found 50% or less responsible for what happened. A Massachusetts car accident lawyer can help make sure follow-up symptoms and ongoing treatment are properly connected back to this crash through crucial evidence.
