How Is Fault Divided in a Three-Vehicle Crash in Avon, MA?

Sorting out fault gets more complicated the moment a third vehicle enters the picture, since insurers for each driver usually try to shift blame onto someone else in the chain.

People caught in the middle of a three-car crash frequently end up with injuries tied to being struck from more than one direction, which can mean whiplash, chest injuries from seatbelt impact, or head trauma depending on where their vehicle sat in the sequence. To sort out which impact caused which injury can require detailed medical records tied to the timeline of the crash.

Massachusetts follows a modified comparative negligence rule, so an injured driver can still recover damages as long as they're found 50 percent or less at fault, even if multiple drivers share some responsibility.

A car accident lawyer commonly plays a key role in cases like this, piecing together which driver initiated the chain reaction through police reports, vehicle damage patterns, and any available witness accounts.
