Suspect Fled After Hit-and-Run on Gifford St in Falmouth, MA

July 3, 2026

Falmouth, MA (July 3, 2026) – A hit-and-run crash on Gifford Street near Woodview Avenue was reported on Thursday morning, July 2, during a high-speed police pursuit that passed through the town.

The chase began around 9:41 a.m. on Route 28 South in Bourne and entered Falmouth after the suspect vehicle exited near Thomas B. Landers Road. Falmouth Police officers joined the search as the vehicle continued through town.

During the search, a vehicle matching the suspect's description struck another car on Gifford Street before it fled the area. The same vehicle also nearly struck several officers working a detail on Brick Kiln Road. The suspect was later found and taken into custody on Sidewinder Road.

The full extent of the injuries of the others involved has not been released. The investigation into the driver's actions throughout Falmouth remains ongoing.

We hope everyone affected by this chase recovers fully.

Can a Hit-and-Run Victim Recover Damages in Falmouth, MA?

Yes, a driver hit by a fleeing vehicle in Falmouth can still pursue compensation, usually through their own uninsured motorist coverage if the at-fault driver can't be identified or lacks adequate insurance at the time of the claim.

Victims of hit-and-run crashes can face the same injuries as any other collision, including whiplash, fractures, or head trauma, but with the added stress of not knowing who was responsible. That uncertainty can delay treatment decisions and complicate how medical bills get paid in the short term.

If a crash happens during an active police pursuit, criminal charges against the driver may eventually support a related civil claim once the case concludes. A car accident lawyer can help victims pursue uninsured motorist benefits while also monitoring the criminal case for information that could strengthen a civil claim.
